Two traditional rowing skiffs are on display. Both built by Seaview Marina berth licensees and to two very different designs.
1. Kaipara Punt
A simple flat bottomed punt traditionally built for shallow waters and widely used on the Kaipara Harbour in North Auckland. This is a very stable work boat used by fishermen and others transporting goods around the edge of the Kaipara Harbour.
2. Clinker Rowing Skiff
This is a beautiful clinker built rowing skiff and was built from plans taken for the skiffs used on the Avon River in Christchurch from the turn of the 19th Century. The workmanship is amazing and even the oars were handmade!
3. Lady Liz IV (NZ Marine Police Unit)
This impressive aluminium vessel will be on display for part of the Wellington Boat Show (dependant on what work they have on). Last year the tours around the boat were a hit. This purpose built vessel is 18m long and has a beam of 6.9m. It can cruise at 30 knots. It is used for a wide variety of duties.
